Rhodonite carved 24 x 19mm inukshuk on 26″ black cord necklace. An inukshuk is an Inuit marker made of rocks stacked to form a human shape in the tundra. The markers are used to indicate direction or assist with hunting. Cord length is adjustable.

This soft glowing pink stone is found mainly on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Rhodonite derives its name from the Greek word “rhodo” meaning “rose”. Its pinkish colour is often veined with black patterns and lines of manganese oxide, sometimes accompanied with visible traces of gold. This stone with its hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale is excellent for producing very attractive carvings and jewellery.
