Carved British Columbia rhodonite 8 x 6mm cabochon pendant surrounded by cubic zirconia stones in a silver plated setting. Includes 18″ silver plated chain. Approximate size 19 x 11 mm ( 0.7 x 0.4″) including bale.
This soft glowing pink stone is found mainly on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Rhodonite derives its name from the Greek word “rhodo” meaning “rose”. Its pinkish colour is often veined with black patterns and lines of manganese oxide, sometimes accompanied with visible traces of gold. This stone with its hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale is excellent for producing very attractive carvings and jewellery.
