Pyrite, which is iron sulfide, has been easily confused with gold. Hence, the nickname, Fool’s Gold. It gets its name from the Greek pyr meaning fire because it gives off sparks when hit with a metal.
It is believed that possession of pyrite attracts money. Some use Pyrite to stimulate the intellect, bring mental clarity and enhance recall of information. It is also said to enhance creativity. Unlike the smooth cube form pyrite is commonly found in, the surface of rainbow pyrite is rough as it contains hundreds of tiny faceted crystals which glitter in a variety of colours including green, pink, gold, orange and blue.
