Black Amethyst Specimen

Description

Naturally shaped unpolished black amethyst quartz specimen. Base has been cut flat so that cluster stands up easily. Pieces vary in shape and size, shown with a quarter to illustrate size.

While amethyst is the purple variety of quartz crystal composed of silicon dioxide with only traces of iron, a higher iron content and inclusions of hematite create this naturally darker version of amethyst. It also tends toward a druzy crystalline matrix.

In healing circles, the higher iron content and hematite inclusion creates a more grounding nature. Amethyst is popularly used for crown opening and third eye boosting. It is said to be helpful in ridding nightmares and calming an overworked and over stressed mind. It is thought to dispel negativity and create a peaceful environment.
