B.C. Rhodonite “A” grade round cabochons in different sizes. Cabochons have a domed top and flat bottom. Number of pieces in bag varies depending on size.
Carved from natural stone, no dyes or colour treatments have been applied. Shade of pink will vary and may include black veining typical of rhodonite.
This soft glowing pink stone is found mainly on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. Rhodonite derives its name from the Greek word “rhodo” meaning “rose”. Its pinkish colour is often veined with black patterns and lines of manganese oxide, sometimes accompanied with visible traces of gold. This stone with its hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale is excellent for producing very attractive carvings and jewellery.
