Sunstone is a type of feldspar, which when viewed from certain directions creates flashes of light called aventurescence. This optical effect is caused by inclusions of copper or hematite.
Once believed to be a piece of the sun, sunstone was sought after by ancient magicians to attract the associated wealth and power. It is also thought to relate to the Phoenix that appeared at first sunrise. It is believed to heighten intuition and to instill a feeling of joy.
